Green Tea has multiple health benefits to offer, but did you know how much it helps our eyes? 

 

 

 

According to the Tea Association of USA Inc., tea is the most consumed drink in the world after water.

This means that many people are enjoying the health benefits tea has to offer. Green Tea comes from a plant called Camellia sinensis. Green Tea comes from this plant’s leaves and stays unfermented so that it keeps high levels of special antioxidants called flavonoids. A flavonoid called gallocatechin collects in the eye’s retina and helps protect it from harmful blue light. The antioxidants that protect our source of vision in the eye, zeaxanthin and lutein, can also be found in small amounts in green tea.

The flavonoids within green tea help fight against oxidative stress that can cause certain diseases when our bodies aren’t balancing free radicals and our antioxidant defenses. In this case, age-related eye health issues can develop if the eye is not protected from these free radicals. So not only is green tea a popular drink, it can also help protect your long-term vision.

If you’re not a big tea drinker, that’s ok! By taking a premium eye vitamin with green tea extract, you can still get all the benefits green tea has to offer and skip drinking it!
